Associates of Science: Music Performance @ Monroe Community College; Bachelor's of Music: Classical Guitar Performance - pending recital completion @ Fredonia State University; I participated in Marching Band during High School as a percussionist, and joined their African Drumming Ensemble as well; in Elementary school I was in choir.
Awards:
2015 Received a Guitarist of the Month award @ Fredonia State University and and qualified for Dean's List while at Fred; 2011 received the Donald B. Cook Music Scholarship @ Monroe Community College; in high school I learned at least a few new percussion instruments every couple months; during 5th grade I was asked to join District Choir, to which I gladly accepted.
Overview:
Interestingly enough, my musical background has proven to be of great value to me. Anywhere from learning music theory on a deep level, to having the wonderful privilege of being able to appreciate the whole world as music via having trained musical ears. There were a few colleges that helped me out with gaining these skills, and even though they were state schools, I had the honor of meeting and learning from amazingly caring and worthwhile professors. I am a real believer in the student learns from wherever, instead of buying into a particular status or reputation that many people espouse and tout. You can learn from anyone or anything, including your own personal failures. In fact, that is where the most growth occurs!
EXPERIENCE
Since I am a fresh youngin' out of college, I have had limited opportunities to offer my teaching. However, I am extremely confident that I can provide my students with optimal care. I ask them what they want, why they want it, how to visualize and value into their visions, I listen earnestly and take notes, and I give back legitimate feedback that grants the student the best way forward - which is simply cutting right to the chase! It's really to your benefit that you will have my services, because my main concern is to get you results, and be happy with music in your life. I can assure you if my student will apply my methods, they will succeed.
METHODS USED
I can't wait to build a list of testimonials with this organization @ Musika Lessons! Here's the thing, everyone is unique. It's really hard to say any one method is best for everybody. Once I figure out how old you are, what your interests really are, and what current degree of mastery you possess and where you want to take them to, I will be able to custom tailor a formidable method directly for them. Some people learn really fast, others slow. Some are in it for acquiring skills and tools as relatively short term students, while others are in it for the long term by life and character building.
LESSON STYLE
Being as humble as I can be, teaching is a privilege. I love that I'm able to offer great amounts of value to my students' lives! In my approach, I do my best to engage students with challenging questions in various capacities. I offer precise feedback. There's much we can learn from outside perspectives, and so I incorporate past experiences and insights coupled with colorful analogies for optimal growth. I also offer a diverse set of tools, that I myself employ, which makes practicing more efficient and enjoyable. Thus the student will have an endless supply of inspiration at their will, and gives them encouragement to practice by themselves - a critical part of development. There's still much that I have to learn as well. And so, I continue to grow my own methods as performer and an educator to help give the best that I can give for my students. I'm a committed life long learner!
