BM, Classical Piano Performance, University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Paul grew up in Colorado and North Carolina and moved to Philadelphia in 2011. He currently teaches in West Philadelphia.
Paul has been teaching piano for 4 years. Most of his students have been young beginners but he also has experience teaching adults and is excited about working with adult beginners.
He tailors the materials used to the individual student but has most commonly used Alfred piano lesson books, particularly for young students.
His lessons tend to be relaxed and varied. He mixes improvisation exersises with technical studies, music theory, and music history. The emphasis of each lesson is based on the students individual interests and needs.
He provides traditional classical piano instruction in sightreading, music theory, music history, and performance practice. He also puts emphasis on improvisation and playing by ear which he believes leads to more dynamic and well-rounded musicianship. His lessons take place in the home of his students and are tailored to their individual abilities and goals.
