2012- Current: Touring Guitarist for The SixxiS, 5 world tours to date.
Hi, my name is Paul and I have been teaching in the private sector since 2009. I earned my degree in Guitar Perfrmance and Theory from Atlanta Institute of Music in 2010 and haven't looked back since. Guitar is my primary interest but I also play mandolin, dobro, piano and bass. I have been fortunate enough to tour the world with my band 5 times now but when I'm not on the road, I love teaching and sharing my knowledge of music with all those willing to learn and take the leap. Whether I am playing a rock and roll shows on stages all over Europe or working with students in my studio, my passion for this beautiful art exudes equally. I can't wait to meet new students and see all of the progress we can make!
My teaching experince dates back to 2009, as I began studying music in Atlanta and teaching part time to supplement my living expenses. Upon graduation, I started working full time with private lessons companies in the Atlanta area and have seen great success amongst my students. My experience has been with beginners all the way to advanced, professional players and I love the challenges of the entire spectrum. My entire philosophy is based around my student's interest and having fun is the key element to the process. I encourage all of my students to enter the live world of music via open mics and jams and I am happy to accompany when my schedule allows. We can practice in bedrooms and studios all day long but until one experinces the energy of performing live, then there is an enitre energetic aspect that is not being fullfilled.
For children and beginning studetns, I will typically start in a level one method book. This allows us to get acquainted with the instrument and some terminology that may be a bit foriegn for some students. This also provides an opportunity to learn how to read basic notes and chords which will highly accelerate our learning process. For those with experience and established musical interests, I will form a plan and practice schedule based around the interest and concepts that the student seeks from their musical quest. Regardless of skill level, my main goal is for the student to have fun and see progress!
Watching a student develop a true love and passion for music is the driving force behind my desire to teach. Being a great teacher is about understanding that every student is different and the pace in which they progress and learn is completely unique. Attainable and tangible goals are what I am all about and that is what I design my lesson plan to accomplish. We will make a list of objectives and inspirations at our first lesson. As we progress, I will make sure you are seeing the progress you are making and encourage you the whole way. I will help you to develop a proper practice regimen that is essentially fail proof. Sometimes it is hard to see the strides you are making from week to week but that is what I am here for, to encourage and inspire!
