BA, University of California, Davis, Music Composition
I have been insfluenced and surrounded with music since childhood. I have experience in multiple aspects of music from performance to teaching and just about everything in between. I love working with students to achieve their goals. The most rewarding feeling for me is when my student feels they've accomplished a technique or method on their respective instrument. I strive to keep lessons joyous yet keep the student motivated to practice at home. I travel to students' home and will soon have my own studio to give the student the option to travel to me.
I've been teaching for over 10 years full time. But I've been involved with teaching and leading musical groups and bands for nearly 25 years. I have thought kids from 3 years of age to teens to young adults to elders over 80 years old. I have over ten years of experience teaching in the private sector as a music instructor. I have plenty of experience working one-on-one with students with zero musical knowledge to prodigies. I also have ample experience working with group settings in the elementary setting and middle school setting. Through my experience I have learned about a wide range of behaviors and interest levels when it comes to specific musical instruments and the overall theory of music. I pride myself in working hard and passionately towards a goal and I’m not afraid of failing. What I fear is not trying.
I am very flexible with my teaching methods and put together the best style matching the student's learning strengths. Furthermore, I update and change my methods if I feel the current method is becoming ineffective. I keep my lessons interactive with the student because the time is for the student to retrieve as much information as he/she can regarding their instrument and they can build a stronger week of preparation heading into the next lesson. Currently my most used methods are teaching via classical, pop & jazz, and Suzuki methods.
I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.
I am VERY happy with his ability to patiently redirect my daughter; he calmly presses forward and seems to be able regain her attention without turning it into a negative experience. I get the impression she respects him because he doesn't get flustered or talk down to her. Pej comes into our home for lessons and seems to tolerate our busy, somewhat chaotic, lifestyle; I feel like my time is respected and he adapts without any hint of judgment if things are not perfectly in order. I very much appreciate this match so far!
Pej is wonderful! He is very patient with my little chatterbox, and able to keep her focused on the lessons. I have been very impressed with his skills as a teacher.
Great teacher. Our kids enjoy his teaching style and we are very comfortable with the pace of lessons.
He is Great!!! My son like him a lot! And he is learning so much!!!
He is a very good teacher. My son is really enjoying his voice lessons and looks forward to the classes which says a lot about the teacher.
I enjoy woking with Pej. His energy, enthusiasm and knowledge makes the lessons impactful. Pej is helping me hit notes I didn't know I could hit. His general music background and talent are present at every lesson. I never feel criticized only provided useful feedback. I definitely recommend Pej.
