I have been playing guitar for 10 years. I want to pursue a career as an artist, playing around the world. I am new to giving music lessons but I cannot wait to start sharing the joy of music. I graduated from SUNY Westchester Community College with a degree in Liberal Arts. This degree is serving as a stepping stone to transfer into a four year school. I plan on continuing my study of music around the world, majoring in Music Education. Studying with me will be a wonderful learning experience for yourself. You will develop a great sense of originality, confidence, and discipline through hard (but exciting) practice :)
Although I have tutored math and English for the past three years, I am proud to say that Musika will be my first opportunity to teach and give lessons in music! This has been a dream of mine since high school, as I have had such amazing experiences with teachers. I write music and play in bands, which has given me a lot of x22DIY' experience. My students will not only learn about the guitar, but will learn about writing music, confidence in one's playing, stage presence, band etiquette, and the benefits of discipline when playing guitar.
Over the years, I have developed a way to help students to arrive at answers to their own questions. The ultimate way to really grasp information is through our own discovery. I believe that every musician, no matter what level, should have a game plan as to what they are going to practice/achieve throughout the day, the week, the month, etc. We will develop skills to make practicing efficient and enjoyable. The most important part about our lessons is to actually apply what we are learning to real life playing scenarios.
Lessons will vary, depending on each student's needs, wants, and capability. I think it's important to consistently accomplish small goals in order to raise one's self esteem and motivation to practice the instrument. I put a strong emphasis on listening, reading, writing, improvisation, and playing with others. Students who are new to the instrument will be introduced to the fundamentals of the guitar. From then on, students will work to set their own goals, ranging from wanting to be to play their favorite Justin Bieber songs, or if diving deep into the world of jazz.
