Overview:
I'm a passionate and goal-oriented instructor who loves teaching piano in all cultural aspects. In 2018, I graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. I got a systematic training from music theory to sight-reading, piano performance technique and expression, pedagogy methods, accompany skills, literature survey, music history, style analysis, and etc. I have multiple times of personal and cooperative recital experience. I will apply the muscle relaxation training and the piano expression from my favorite teacher Mrs. Daisy Jaffe-who is a concert pianist from Brazil; and Mr. Lehman-a professor who has been faithfully teaching piano for 38 years.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to 3 years ago, I was teaching during each summer back home. My goal for teaching is preparing students to be well-rounded musicians and fall in love with music. I would love to encourage students and challenge them to most their potentials. I've been through a lot of struggles with my past experience of my teacher didn't know how to teach me step by step. Because of my past struggles, I would understand my students more. I was trained as a professional pianist who also knows how to make lesson plans, so you don't have to worry about your lesson will be disorganized. I understand the struggles as a pianist and a performer, I have practical knowledge of how to keep muscle relaxed during the performance.
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, I will teach them basic musical foundation through fun activities.I choose the Bastien, Alfred along with other online teaching materials. It's a time period of building good piano practice habit. Therefore, I will apply different methods to let them be able to enjoy practicing. For intermediate students, they will be learning pieces from 4 periods: baroque, classical, romantic and modern. They will also be learning music from all kinds of aspects: theory, improvisation, sight-reading, etc. They will also be exposed to cultural folk music from the globe. For advanced students, they will be able to perform music using their own musical interpretation and expression. My goal is to find more details of performing a piece and we can grow together as musician.
LESSON STYLE
I would teach my lesson on top of my lesson plans. As a teacher, writing lesson plans is an important factor of keeping the lesson organized. The lesson also depends a lot on the students' learning pace and hard work. I will take time to get to know the students and to find out their different learning style(visual, aural or kinetic. )I will set a detailed goal and plan for my students and keep track of their progress and measure our weekly target accordingly. I will try my best to understand their needs and give them help in time . Furthermore, I will keep the learning atmosphere enjoyable instead of being tensed.
