Overview:
As your teacher, I'm responsible for giving you the tools you need to express yourself fully through the violin. There are no limitations when it comes to style or what you're capable of doing with the violin. Whether you're a beginner or you've been playing for a while, technique is important to me because a solid foundation makes it easier to you need to express yourself fully through the violin Every student has their own goals and every student is on their own journey with the violin. I keep this in mind when it comes to selecting songs and exercises to play and when I'm curating listening lists for students. I'm a violinist, singer-songwriter, and composer. I began playing violin at age 5 and graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2017. I've performed with Solange Knowles, Bootsy Collins, Panic! At the Disco, Slash, Jefferson Starship, and more. I've also performed at the Hollywood Bowl, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Boston Symphony Hall among other places. Please don't hesitate to reach out and see if I'd be a good fit for you or your child. I look forward to hearing from you!
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching violin in 2012 and provided lessons to colleagues throughout college. I've also counseled years of Suzuki camp. I teach classical violin, jazz, pop, rock, and more. In addition to classical repertoire, I incorporate jazz and modal study into lessons. I think of classical music as linear and jazz as everything in between. Utilizing this palette as a beginner will make crossing over to other genres and styles far easier. Since I'm a singer-songwriter, once a solid foundation is established, we can expand our training to electric violin, the utilization of FX pedals, and techniques for singing and playing, if desired. The key to improving is practice. Practicing isn't always fun, but the hardest part is getting started. I like to emphasize that the process isn't always easy, but the result is rewarding. Practicing is also enjoyable when you're clear on your goals and when you're inspired. CONSISTENT practice is the key to improving. When you practice consistently, your hard work will truly pay off.
METHODS USED
Proper technique is most important. A solid foundation is key. Without proper technique, you lack the ability to produce a pleasing sound. Advancing on the instrument will also be much more difficult. First, my students learn to hold the violin and bow properly, as well as resting and playing positions. If you'd like to follow a specified course of study, we begin the first steps of that method. Otherwise, we will follow the Suzuki method until the student reaches a level of expansion. A balanced violin diet consists of a scale, a technical study, a working piece, and active listening. I incorporate major, minor, and modal scale practice. In addition to listening to the working piece, I encourage students to utilize YouTube and listen to great violinists of various genres.
LESSON STYLE
I present a nurturing teaching environment where students are free to explore and express themselves, but they also know what's expected. I love fostering curiosity and creativity. I encourage students to bring in videos of great players and songs they've heard. It's my goal to help each student learn the instrument and feel comfortable with their movement so they can use the violin as an instrument of expression in all aspects of life. I also introduce and emphasize the importance of mindfulness and awareness. Utilizing mindfulness assures that each student is present and efficient in their practice.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
