Hello!! My name is priscilla g. and I have spent the last 5 years in the music world invigorating myself with the tools to be a great educator for anyone looking to take the art of a singing a little more seriously. I have performed overseas, direct and conducted choirs, and have had my voice studio for 3 years. I am currently an NMSU student persuing a vocal music education degree who will graduate December 2022. I am young and passionate about the world of music and hope to be able to share that passion with you!!
My expierences include having a major role in the Austrian American Mozart Academy summer opera of, "Le nozze di figaro." I have been in the top auditioned ensemble of NMSU for all 4 years and section leader for 2. I have been the president of NMSU Chapter American Choral Directors Association and president of NMSU Chapter National Association for Music Educators. I have also conducted and directed a children's choir for the past 2 years. I am currently in the middle of my student teaching at a middle school and high school where I get first hand expierence working with students. I have worked with ages 10-67 in independent voice for the past 4 years.
At the very first lesson, I try to understand how far along in training the singer has come. From the very beginning we sing so I get to understand the singers voice. Their strengths and weaknesses. I then build lessons around each singers individual vocal journey to get them to their goals which we will discuss in the first lesson as well. I am trained in a European classical format as well as Broadway foundation that can help benefit any singer. We must also make sure the foundations are set before introducing rep which will be picked by both the students interest and my knowledge.
I encourage progress over awards. It is vital that the singer be able to rely on their fundamental and progress at their own pace to be able to build healthy habits that will last for a lifetime of singing. I try to understand the goals and desires for all students to be able to help them reach that goal in a healthy progression. I am very challenging but singing if supposed to always be fun as well or there is no use in doing it every day. With the use of fun and challenging work I hope to progress my student to a successful end result.
