Louis Cook Award for Vocal Performance, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (2005)
Hi! I am a voice and piano teacher. I am originally from CA and moved to NY to complete my degree in music education at Hofstra University. After I graduated, I stayed to complete my masters degree at Teachers College, Columbia University. My primary instrument is voice, secondary piano. I sing with the Astoria Symphonic Choir and occasionally perform new music.
I began teaching private voice and piano lessons in 2008. My students have completed level 1 and 2 NYSSMA festivals. I have a piano student working on piano level 3 this year. Besides teaching private voice and piano lessons, I also teach middle school chorus for the New York City Department of Education. At my school, I also serve as vocal director for the school musical.
Piano: Alfred with added resources
Voice: I use a variety of resources depending upon the desires of the student.
I am a constructivist teacher. I like my students to drive their lessons. However, there is a structure to the lesson. There is always a warm-up, theory and/or sight-reading, and choice time, where the student works on something they have chosen, and then time to work on something I have chosen.\
Lessons always end on a positive note!
