When it comes to the art of music, it just brightens my day. With over 20 years of learning, performing and teaching has elevated my skillset. My passion towards music allows me to create, engineer and produce music. My music talent has allowed me to perform in front of large crowds or in a small setting. I am a motivated instructor who enjoys working with students and sharing my love of music. In today's climate I feel music creates a positive atmosphere and a sense of therapy. Performing and teaching has been one the greatest experiences of my life. As a musician, I've had the opportunity to play with musicians all over the world. I've had the opportunity to and produce my own albums and I am a proud owner of my music school and recording studio.
EXPERIENCE
My music training experience includes courses at J Seargent Reynolds Community College. My course of study included music therapy, engineering and communications. I began playing the guitar 15 years ago, and have continued to improve my gift with learning Classical Music and the Bass. My range of teaching is not limited to adults. I have the experience of teach students as young as six years old. I believe if anyone shows an interest in music the are eager to become a student. As a teacher, I allow the student to also show creativity in their learning.
METHODS USED
My method for beginner or advanced students, I develop lesson plans and instructional materials. I identify the pupil’s needs and implement strategies. I use a variety of methods for effective teaching that fits the student’s style. I start with a standard basic beginning lesson plan to read music. This allows the student to gain additional knowledge other than playing guitar. Learning to read music while playing the instrument builds confidence. Once the student learns a new craft they can utilize this skill for years to come.
LESSON STYLE
I have a variety of teaching styles. Every student has a different way of learning, so I adjust according to the student’s needs. I provide lesson plans, review lesson plans with the students, and demonstrate the lesson for visual. The student will learn how to tune the guitar, proper way to hold the instrument, and taking care/cleaning the instrument. Questions can be asked at any time during the session for clarity. At the end of the lesson, home work is assigned. Practice…Practice… and more practice
