Awards:

Associates at Bunkerhill Community College 2022

Overview:

I am passionate about learning and sharing music and much of my experiences include being involved with different music/art organizations online and in my home state, Massachusetts. Where I have worked with musician's at Berklee, Community Colleges, and even Arts high school's. Here is where I learned about performance/stage experience with big bands, and jazz bands. My main instrument is the alto saxophone and I am familiar with the piano, and voice, as well as composing/producing music. My strengths are learning music and sharing my love of music with others. Currently I am studying for a bachelor's in music production at Berklee online with an online presence @saxyrai

EXPERIENCE

My teaching would focus on performing and helping you find inspiration for your own music. Discipline and fun are both important! I have a lot of experience in music and can share a lot of fundamental knowledge about composing, producing, and theory. I find it very important to come to a lesson with motivation and goals as I would like for it to be an engaging learning process where students learn by doing even if it means playing a phrase 10xs in a row correctly. Understanding scales, chords, and patterns in the music you like helps you to start writing your own music- it's like an artist's palette! I can also explain things visually, as there are different approaches to understanding musical concepts that help students prepare for recitals and performances. Different people learn in different ways, and I can adapt my teaching to that, which can help students get ready for recitals and performance's.

METHODS USED

For beginning musicians and children, I find it is best to start with the fundamentals: an introduction to music vocabulary. introducing major scales, common time signatures, and basic rhythms. from there, we'll move on to reading sheet music and performing simple rhythms, melodies, and phrases. One of my go-to resources for this is the standard of excellence book 1. For adults or experienced musicians, we'll take a different approach. we'll start by diving into some of their own favorite tunes. This gives me a good sense of ones own current skill level and interest. Based on that, I will introduce piece from the Great American Songbook or the Real Book that align with your abilities and musical tastes, while also gently pushing you to expand your repertoire and challenge yourself.

LESSON STYLE

Here is how I would approach music tutoring: personalized lessons, constructive feedback, and creative freedom. The benefit of personalized music lessons is catering to the individual needs of each student's learning style, and pace. It is all about what the students need, how they learn best, and going at their pace. Tailoring lessons to their learning pace and preferred method will help any student to develop their musical skills on their chosen instrument. This approach reduces stress and allows for clear explanations of musical concepts, demonstrations of techniques, and constructive feedback tailored to the students chosen instrument.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
