Musical Director for the Broadway Musical "RENT" at Victoria Theatre in Singapore. Chosen from 20 musical directors all over Asia.

Overview:
I have been playing professionally for the past 33 years in different musical situations from Jazz Festivals, Broadway Musicals, Session Recordings, as a Show band Musician on Ships etc...And have taught numerous students who have gone on to various fields of musical endeavor.I also released my debut cd in 2011 "The Long Road Taken" with my own group the RDP Project which is available in Itunes, CDBaby and 10 other digital distribution sites. I have been teaching extensively for the past 6 years,while still doing performances on the side.
EXPERIENCE
I have taught many students of various musical styles for the past 20 years. From some that just want to play the guitar in their living room or treat it as a hobby, to students that want to pursue a career in music. Every student is unique , so i utilize various methods and different approaches to suit each individual's needs and capabilities. In my many years of teaching, what I have realized is that proper technique should be emphasized as early as possible so that the student will not carry bad traits both in practice and in performance.
METHODS USED
Every student has different goals ,wants and needs..and it is for this matter that an individual and personal approach is needed to address those musical aspects,catered and tailored specifically geared towards their learning the instrument.I use various resources at my disposal: books,mp3s and videos and my many years of experience and knowledge of performing and teaching. For classical: I use the Matteo Carcassi Method Book, Fernando Sor and Mel Bay's Complete Method for Classical Guitar. For Beginners, I use the Hal Leonard Guitar method books 1-3 and for Jazz I use various resources as well as the Berkelee Series vols.1-3
LESSON STYLE
Style: Lessons should be conducted in a relaxed atmosphere, one that is conducive to learning. I go about teaching by demonstrating,explaining and elucidating the different musical concepts.Every student is unique , so i utilize various methods and different approaches to suit each individual's needs and capabilities. In my many years of teaching, what I have realized is that proper technique should be emphasized as early as possible so that the student will not carry bad traits both in practice and in performance. It is also my fervent hope that students will be able to take from the experience a positive attitude, a craving for knowledge and the desire and passion for the instrument that they will bring with them throughout their entire lives.
