Grammy for Taylor Swift Folklore
Highlights include performing with: Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, Abigail Washburn, Clay Ross, Jayme Stone, Jacob Jolliff Band, Loudon Wainwright III, Mark Guiliana, Jeff Taylor and more. Bobby has recently been heavily involved in recording with chart-topping pop artists in the US. He is most recognized for playing violin on Grammy-award winning album folklore, by Taylor Swift. He has also recorded for Clairo, Lourde, Diana Ross, Bleachers, Phosphorescent, Florence and the Machine, and more. Bobby was raised in a small Illinois town. He was introduced to music at an early age by his multi-instrumentalist father, who would bring him to gigs throughout the region. He began attending Mark O’Connor’s fiddle camps and festivals throughout the Midwest, where he met musicians like Casey Driessen and Noam Pikelny. “They opened me up to what was possible because they were so virtuosic at such a young age too,” Bobby said. For the past 20 years, Bobby has had a New York City-based professional career playing with world class musicians in jazz, bluegrass, rock/pop and country bands. His performances have taken him to China, Holland, France, Germany, Denmark, Austria, and across the US.
Learn With Me! Want to be a musical chameleon or become a virtuoso on one instrument? You're in the right place. My goal with teaching music is to equip students with the tools and mindset necessary to free themselves of limitations. I want to work with you to identify your goals, and work towards them in which you will actually have fun and learn. Before taking lessons, I invite prospective students to do a trial session in which you can experience my teaching method and I can answer any questions you may have. Music lessons are available in New York City or remote!
I teach from a flexible curriculum depending on the student's goals and interests. If someone wants to learn technique, music theory, songwriting, how to play Taylor Swift songs, arranging, composing, confidence, et cetera we will work on what is driving them to take lessons and learn! If the student is younger I will provide them with an organized syllabus and “fun” damentals! If they are older, I will help them find a way to stick with the music and accomplish their goals. I look forward to working with you!
My teaching style is by assigning studies and etudes to develop fundamentals while simultaneously incorporating the learnt fundamentals into “real-time”, on the job training! I have learned all of my most valuable lessons while performing and being put on the spot; I will teach my students how to be prepared for any situation, not only in regard to music but also in relation to life, by having a calm and steady approach to the task at hand! I will teach the student to be confident and comfortable in all situations!
