EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience goes back to my early twenties while playing in Hollywood Ca. I have always had a student at one time or another. I built my studio in 2001 and have had a steady stream of students for private lessons. For teaching drums I own a Roland td 10 Midi Drum Kit. (see video). I enjoy teaching all ages and range of experience on my main three instruments I teach. Also I insist on having fun and I always have the creative mind engaged when giving my lessons. Demystifying the music creation process goes a long way to give people creative power over their own ideas.
METHODS USED
My teaching methods are different for everyone. I adapt to their preferred learning style. I guide my instruction according to their interest and ability to learn concepts and technique. No matter my students ability i always keep my lessons engaging and fun using tried and true techniques and humor! Depending my students goals I will prepare them for their first recital or their first band. I start with what is called the Suzuki method, and then progress with sheet music, interweaving theory and rythm theory training as well.My teaching style canbe summed up in one word:
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style can be summed up in one word: POSITIVITY! I have found encouragement and celebrating even the smallest of accomplishments is far more effective than a heavy handed approach ala whiplash. That is the way to spur on a students desire to stick with it and progress and produces a hunger to learn more. It is a combination of fun and skill and whatever inspires my students to find their own voice and style while learning about MUSIC not just an instrument. Most of my kids develop a sense of focus and attention to learning when we meet that provides success in other areas of life.
