Overview:
I am a Venezuela singer/songwriter, cellist, guitarist, producer and music educator. I moved to the United States at the end of 2011. I started my college studies at Miami Dade College in the Fall of 2012, and obtained my A.A Degree in May of 2014. After that, I transferred to Berklee College of Music in 2014 and finished in the Summer of 2016 with Summa Cum Laude honors. I am also a performing artist who travels a lot to Venezuela for shows and media tours. I released my first album as a singer/songwriter in May of 2016. I toured the New England Area during the Summer of 2016, playing at prestigious festivals and venues. Throughout my musical career, I have performed with successful artists such as: Ricardo Montaner, Caibo, Il Volo, Rafael "El Pollo" Brito, and many others.
EXPERIENCE
I started sharing my musical knowledge at the age of 14, when I was in Venezuela. I was a part of the biggest and most successful music education entity in the world. Its name is "El Sistema" and it is a nonprofit organization funded by the Venezuelan government. It has more than 300,000 students and it keeps on growing up despite the crisis in Venezuela. They taught me how to play the Cello for free, so I started giving back when I felt I was able to do so. I continued mentoring the entering students until I moved to the United States, where I quickly started volunteering as a tutor at the Miami Music Project, and shortly after at the Siman Orchestral Foundation. When I moved to Boston to finish college, I did not have the time to volunteer formally at any institution, but as a part of my curriculum, I visited several public schools, observed and evaluated the teacher's methods. I continued to teach a few private lessons. Now, I am a full-time private instructor, willing to teach any of the instruments I play (Cello, Guitar and Voice) and provide the best learning experience!
METHODS USED
I believe that every human being is unique, and that uniqueness affects the way one learns. This is why I do not have a method that I use for each of my students. After I get to know my student, I am able to find out which method fits his/her needs in a more complete way. However, here is a short list of the books that I use for most of my students. Guitar Beginners: Essential Elements for Guitar by Will Schmid (Hal Leonard) Cello Beginners: Suzuki, Dotzauer, Lee. Voice: Vocal Workouts by Anne Peckham (Berklee Press).
LESSON STYLE
I design my lessons differently for every student. I understand that every human being is different and it is my duty as an educator to adjust my methods to the student's needs. However, I can say that my methods focus on learning music through performance. I teach students how to read rhythms, melodies, how to understand theory, how to write music, all with his/her instrument in hand. This is a method that helps the student to develop more musicality and to become a integral musician, that not only plays an instrument, but also understand music as an entity.
