I am a Master Music Educator and Performer. I love to craft programs to allow learners to maximize their potential. I am a Berklee University Graduate '81. I majored in Professional Music. My studies included composition, arranging, recording and scoring for film. I have proficiency in Piano, Keyboards, Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute. I perform regularly as a vocalists, keyboardist, guitarist and bass player. I have been performing for over 35 years and I have been teaching for over 25 years.
I find teaching very rewarding. The benefits of studying music are now well documented. It is amazing to see my younger students begin to excel in other areas of studies. It is also very rewarding to act as a coach with my older learners as they begin or re-aquaint themselves to their love of music. I have been able to bring students of all ages and levels of music and learning ability forward. I am very much in favor of the try and then learn style. I can uncover and find the paths to a more rewarding musical experience.
I have successfully incorporated any and all of the major teaching systems. If your desire is to check off the boxes and progress through a method I am very familiar with assisting students to reach these goals. I will craft your lessons to suit each person. I match learning style and musical style. I love to teach practical music theory, song writing and reading music. I can set up performance opportunities should student desire. I provide assistance for students to improve their playing for their own enjoyment, for friends or family and further afield if desired.
It is vital that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I feel just as strongly that every student be using material that they want to learn to maintain interest and to maximize the enjoyment of learning. Folk, Pop, Rock, HipHop, Jazz, Latin, Classical ... the list goes on and on. On signature feature is keeping track of the lesson progress, repertory and artists to gain inspiration. I uncover what inspires each student. It is vital to acknowledge the achievements of each learner.
