Director of Girls Rock! Camp WV
Lead Instructor at Popshop WV
Music Prep Program Private Instructor at Fairmont State University
Music has been a huge part of my life since birth. Both of my grandmothers were musicians, one a pianist, and the other an opera singer. My siblings and I all started learning an instrument at young ages, mine being flute. I later started learning guitar. Eventually I started performing and touring solo and with full bands and recording in professional recording studios. Throughout my adult years, I've been teaching multiple instruments (guitar, voice, bass, ukulele, and flute) both privately and in group settings. I have gained much experience teaching online throughout the pandemic.
My experience includes teaching private lessons, both in person and virtually, teaching for the music prep program at a local university, and teaching at a “school of rock” style non-profit academy. In addition to this, I am the camp director of a local Girls Rock! Camp. My teaching style adapts to each individual’s needs and interests. I have years of experience working with ages 5-adult. My goal as a teacher is to help facilitate a lasting interest in music. In addition to teaching, I also have experience performing and touring, both solo and with a full band.
In the first lesson, I find out what my students' goals and interests are, whether it be learning music for fun, working toward a performance, brushing up on technique, etc. Once we have established a clear goal, I work together with my students to devise a plan for achieving said goal. For example, if a student wants to take voice lessons for fun, we start each lesson with several different vocal exercises for warming up the voice and exploring technique. The remainder of the lesson will be geared toward learning a song of the student's choice.
I view music education as a form of therapy. If my students continue to have a genuine desire to use music as an outlet for expression, stress regulation, confidence building, developing healthy relationships with themselves, etc, then I am doing my job. My teaching style adapts to meet the needs, interests, and goals of each individual student. I constantly strive to help highlight each student's strengths and work through their weaknesses. We could all use a little more joy and ease in our lives these days. It is my wish to help facilitate that.
My 2 daughters have been taking lessons with Rose for several months. They love her and have taught them so much!
My daughter has been taking lessons with Rose Anne for about 8 months. She absolutely LOVES her weekly class and has made a lot of progress. Rose Anne has been great to work with scheduling and I would definitely recommend her.
My daughter (age 7) takes guitar lessons with Rose. She's very good with young children who are just starting on their learning journey.
We have been taking ukulele lessons with Rose for 2 years via zoom. Rose is a fantastic teacher. She is patient, kind and can easily meet kids where they are at skill wise. I would recommend Rose to any one who is interested in learning a stringed instrument or needs voice lessons.
My daughter has enjoyed taking both voice and ukulele lessons from Rose. She seems to have a good rapport with her students as my daughter learns but also has fun. The lessons are adjusted appropriately for my daughter’s interest and ability.
