National Touring Artist Since 2009
Started my own private music lessons studio 2012
I began my music teaching journey back in 2012 after attending the University of Colorado Denver. I was pursuing a music degree and at the time I believed touring would be my main source of income. After I had my first guitar student my life path suddenly changed and I realized my passion for teaching. Music has had such a huge impact on my life and being able to teach that gift other people has been nothing short of a blessing. My goal is always to accommodate my students wants and needs. I don't teach for myself, I do it for my students. Your enjoyment is first on my list of priorities. Everything else falls into place after that. I work with all ages and skill levels.
I have been teaching music since 2012. I began in Denver Colorado teaching in home lessons on various instruments through various companies. As my teaching skills progressed so did my love for teaching. That inspired me to open my own private lessons studio. In 2018 my fiancé and I decided to move from the front range back to Grand Junction to be closer to family. After some time off from teaching I realized how much I missed it and decided to start pursuing it again. My goal is to always make my students feel valued and for them to get what they want out of their lessons. If you work with me you can expect to dive deep into the realm of music theory but also to learn the music that you're interested in. Teaching has taught me more about music then I ever thought imaginable and there's always something new to learn on our journey together.
Depending on the instrument and skill levels of the student I have different methods. For guitarists I typically like to start by learning techniques and building strength in their fingers before we move into theoretical concepts. For pianists I begin with technique but with also teaching them the musical staff and getting them started with reading music. Ultimately my method depends on the individual needs of the student. The lesson is always aimed at having the most fun as possible, all while learning and expanding our musical knowledge.
My teaching style is focused on the specific needs of the student in correspondence to their current skill level. Whether it be focusing on improving technique or gaining a deeper knowledge of music theory, I make it a point to pinpoint areas of improvement and focus on them while still keeping fun central to the lessons. I love to see my students progress and achieve their goals and I take it upon myself to make sure I'm tailoring the lessons specifically to help the student do just that. Lets get started!
