Overview:
I have had the opportunity to learn from many musicians over the course of my musical career. I have gathered much practical music knowledge from University Professors to Street Corner Musicians. Applying that knowledge to my guitar playing has opened up many doors of opportunity and has made my life very interesting. I have performed professionally in various ensembles such as Mariachi, Tejano, Orchestra, and several guitar duets. I currently perform professionally as a solo instrumental guitarist at such venues as restaurants, resorts and private events.
EXPERIENCE
I began my teaching career in Texas.  I have worked as a private guitar instructor at various music schools in Texas and in Southern California for the past twelve years.  I also enjoy teaching guitar, ukulele, and bass guitar to students in my home studio. It's been my privilege to also teach guitar and ukulele to students in after school programs.  In addition to teaching guitar I also worked as a technical theatre instructor for a non-profit community youth theatre for several years while living in Texas.
METHODS USED
I first ask my students many questions about their relationship to music and where do they want music to take them. I tailor my lesson plan for each student by taking into careful consideration their musical background as well as their objectives. I customize a plan that is comfortable to their pace and helps them achieve their goals. By reaching small manageable short term goals my students gain skills and confidence.  I also encourage the student to use their creativity to make learning easier.
LESSON STYLE
Fun. Music is fun. Learning music should be fun. My style of teaching is to take what I find fun about playing music and introduce it to my students in gradual easy to understand steps. I do my best at teaching my students to read, write and create music. I also include many fun exercises to achieve finger dexterity.  For my more advanced students I will take them to local open mic nights to help grow their confidence. Generally, my style is teaching the student what I would have liked to be taught when I was a student.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
