Growing up in Northeast Los Angeles, I’ve been surrounded by several styles of music. When I was 21 years old, I attended Los Angeles College of Music. After graduating in 2015 with my AA in Music Performance I performed, taught and did live sound all around the Los Angeles area. I’m proficient in multiple styles of drumming as well as percussion. I currenlt conduct lessons from my space in China Town, but i'm able to come to you if needed. I want to know about you! who's your favorite drummer / band? Let's start playing those tunes!
After my time at Los Angeles College of Music, I taught in Nightingale Middle School & Eagle Rock Jr. / Sr. High School (as an assistant for percussion students). Aside from those opportunities, I’ve offered lessons privately and even taught at two “Summer Night Light” seasons through Los Angeles County. Aside from being a private instructor..i've performed, collaborated, recorded & co-wrote with a plethora of local artists / groups in the area of North East Los Angeles. I just so happen to be a multi-instrumentalist as well.
For all my students, I like to get down to where the joy comes from. I channel that throughout the lessons to keep a motivative approach on channeling what made them choose drums in the first place. I start every students experience with the question “why drums?”. And once I have their answer, I can begin to construct a plan for each student and their desires for the instrument. Anybody can show you rudiments, drum patterns & notation..i'm here to show you how to be the best musician you can be using tips and tricks i've obtained over my years of experience.
My “style” caters to each student individually, we all have an idea on what we want out of our instrument. Some people just want to jam and others want a career, I’m here for both. Wherever you want to be on that grid, I can get you there. Growing up, i wanted to be a drum tech rather a performer..crazy right? As i progressed in school, i realized "tech" skills served more than i thought. Learning how to tune and position your equipment makes all the difference in your over all performance whether you play everyday or a few hours a week.
