Overview:
I have been playing the piano for 10 years, but have been involved in the musical institution for much longer than that. I have been shaping minds young and old in piano technique and music theory for the last seven years. And, I believe I am an ideal teacher for anyone just starting out to those who are trying to continue from where they left off. I have been afforded the pleasure of performing in many of my University's recitals and concerts as a solo pianist and ensemble piece. I look forward to helping you reach every one of your musical goals.
EXPERIENCE
At an early age, I knew music was what I wanted to do with my life, and how I knew I would be able to touch people. My teaching experience goes back to my second year at my university and I fell in love with teaching after the very first lesson. In a never dull, quick paced setting, that accentuates each individual student's needs, I hope to never leave you bored, yet eager for the next session. And, before long have you playing all of your favorites types of music. By combining our experience, passion, and dedication I hope to not only instruct, but also to inspire.
METHODS USED
When starting off with students who are either children or complete beginners, I like to begin with Hal Leonard's All-In-One lessons book, while also incorporating individual sheet music to accentuate what the books are trying to teach. With adults, I take a quicker paced method by first establishing what direction in music they would like to go in, then introducing well-known songs of that genre into their repertoire. Both lessons groups will mainly start with a classical background to learn and reinforce proper techniques, and are then given the opportunity to branch off into any genre that entices them.
LESSON STYLE
My first and foremost goal is to inspire a student to want to learn and thrive in their instrument. If I can do this, my job along with theirs, becomes that much easier. I try and do this by heavily incorporating the music that they identify the most with while strengthening their technique with a classical foundation. And, introduce a well-rounded set of incentives for each of their accomplishments. After all of this, without saying, the passion for the piano should have grown after taking root in our first lessons.
