I am a very passionate and dedicated instructor who really enjoys working with students and watching them grow into the great musicians I know they can be! In 2016 I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music. My music has been internationally acclaimed and played all over the world. I am a very active teacher, solo artist and session musician in the Boston and New York City scenes. I also love being a student, so much so, that I am currently a grad student at Tufts where I am currently pursuing a masters degree in music composition.
The best part of teaching music is watching students, no matter where they are on their journey, fall in love with music! I began teaching when I was a freshman in High School! When I was young I progressed very quickly and I began teaching and instantly fell in love with it. I have had students ranging from age 5 to age 75, taught groups upwards of 20 students as well as private lessons. My main goal is to fan the flames of my student's innate passion for music. I am equally comfortable and interested in teaching someone brand new to the guitar as I am teaching someone who has been playing for 35 years!
My main goal is to provide my students with the tools they need while simultaneously engaging their musical interests and personal goals. For beginners I usually start with Hal Leonard method books and work to build a solid foundation of chords and songs. The most important part in my beginner curriculum is to strike a balance of foundational materials as well as fun! I want to make sure practicing is seen as a fun activity. For intermediate and advanced students I work with them and create strategies and practice plans and exercises that allow them to progress extremely quickly towards their expressed goals!
My methods are tailored to the exact, specific needs of the individual student. I frequently check in with my students to make sure all of their questions are being answered, everything makes sense and, most importantly, they are having fun while learning their instrument. Setting and working towards goals is a huge part of my method. I break down the seemingly colossal task of deciphering the guitar and present it in easy to digest, understandable lessons that not only inspire my students to practice but constantly engage and inspire my students to grow and to ask questions which leads to further knowledge.
