For the past 23 years I have owned and operated a successful percussion studio. I have a full percussion set up including snare drums, drum sets, hand drums, marimba and keyboard. I enjoy working with students of all ages and truly enjoy seeing people meet their musical goals. I grew up in Spokane and am glad my husband and I have chosen to raise our daughter here. I feel connected to the people and the musicians in Spokane and I want to see it grow.
I have over 20 years experience teaching and performing in Spokane. I have performed with the Washington Air National Guard band since 1992. I performed with the concert band, marching band, jazz band, dixieland band as well as a marimba soloist. We performed all around the Inland Northwest. As a civilianI performedwith the Spokane symphony, Spokane civic theater,the Royal fireworks concert and as a marimba soloist. I have compositions published by Alfred publishing and have been on numerous CD's.I also have had the chance to work with many local high school. I believe experience as a performing musician can make a better teacher.
The teaching methods I work with depends totally on the student. Many beginning snare drum students start off in Logical Approach to snare drum and beginning drum set students start out in Alfred beginning drum set method. If a student has a solo they would like to work on that is great too. Often students will bring in Cd's they would like to learn the drum beats to or maybe a school band tune they are working on. Every student is different so I feel it is the teachers responsibility to find a method or teaching style that fits them.
I believe in a relaxed setting where the student can feel at home. I strive to create a atmosphere where the student can express themselves and focus on the music. I encourage the parent of the younger students to sit in on a lesson. I'm an open minded person and if the parent has concerns I would like them to please bring them to my attention.
