Overview:
I am a fun and passionate teacher who adores working with all different ages! I love to share my passions with others by teaching such an amazing skill. Performing was my main hobby throughout high school and college, however, I was always teaching a little along the way. I now wish to make teaching more of my main priority because I love engaging with others who have a love for music like me.
EXPERIENCE
I have been playing the piano since I was 7 years old and ever since the piano has been such a huge part of my life. I have been teaching piano since I was 16 and that was when I realized that teaching would always be apart of my life. Teaching someone how to play from the beginning is my true passion because it is such a beautiful thing to be able to learn such an astounding instrument and I love to be apart of that process. I also love teaching students with special needs and have years of experience with that as well! When I first started teaching, I was a teacher for my piano teacher's studio. After a few years of teaching for her business, I started receiving my own students through different types of advertising. Recently, I just moved to the Jacksonville area and am eager to start acquiring students here as well!
METHODS USED
For students that are just starting, I love using Bastien Piano Basic books and Alfred's Basic Piano library! These both have great selections and have all different levels to meet the student's needs. After the student moves out of these basic piano books, we can start working on learning songs and developing some solo pieces for their repertoire. For adults that are learning piano, I leave a lot up to the student because most of the time they already have something in mind that they would like to learn or work their way up to learning a particular piece. However, I love giving my younger students a lot of options as well! After all, you are the student and I am here to teach you what you want!
LESSON STYLE
As previously stated, I love sharing my passion for music and piano with my students! With that being said, watching my students grow as a musician is truly an amazing experience to be apart of! I love to have a good balance with my students of working with technique but also working on something that is fun to play or something of the students pick so that the interest and motivation to play is as high as possible. This balance is key in keeping that motivation to practice! I encourage practicing for around 20-30 minutes 4-5 times a week when a student first starts based on the age and then adjusting that based on their pace and time available to practice. I love encouraging my students and helping them reach challenges they never thought was possible.
