Hello! My name is Sara, I am a dedicated and passionate music instructor who loves working with people of all ages and levels. My main objectivity is to share my knowledge to help my students achieve their desire goals. I have been playing piano for over 13 years now and I have been teaching for more than 7 years. In 2016, I graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. I recently got my Masters degree in Piano Performance from University of Alabama.
I have been teaching Piano for more than 7 years now. I have work with students as young as six years and as old as eighty-nine. I enjoy working with people of every level, I am passionate about teaching and helping others enjoy music. I started teaching piano back in my home country, Honduras, in the Escuela de Musica Victoriano Lopez. Then I had the opportunity the be a piano instructor in the Valdosta String Project, and in the Community Music School at University of Alabama. These teaching experiences helped me grown as a instructor and helped me realize that teaching is what I like most.
For younger students who are children, I usually start with Faber Piano Adventures. Once the student has worked in fundamentals and get a better understanding of the instrument, I will begin introducing solo repertoire appropriate for his or her level. I also like to working on scales and sight reading with my students, I spend some time at the beginning of the lesson helping them get a solid grasp on these two elements. For adults, I usually work with Adult Piano Adventures and then I find out the student interests, and guide my instruction that way to keep a fun lesson.
I think that is very important that the students enjoy playing their instrument. To achieve that, it is important that each student progresses at their own pace. Using their strengths and helping them get better at their weaknesses is one of my main goals as a teacher. I try to find what inspires them to keep the lessons interesting and fun. I always try to help them grow by challenging them but by also setting realistic goals. I want them to get better and enjoy their lessons at the same time.
