Overview:
I'm a very passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students to share my love of music. I am currently obtaining my Masters of Music degree in Flute Performance from New York University. I began this degree in September 2018 and I anticipate to finish in December of 2019. At NYU, I am an Adjunct Flute Instructor, so I teach privately at NYU to undergraduate students. I am currently studying under Soo-Kyung Park, and I am playing in orchestra and with my woodwind quintet, Prime Quintet. I am a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I received a Bachelors of Music in Flute Performance and a Minor in Art History in May 2018. While at IU, I played in many ensembles focusing on chamber music, and I studied under Kathryn Lukas. I am originally from Marietta, Georgia, where I studied with Christina Smith. I love all types of music, and in my free time, I listen to a lot of classical music but mainly Broadway shows.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high school when I would help students in my high school band program with audition repertoire and other flute issues. I began teaching privately in high school, and I have continued since. Right now, I am an Adjunct Instructor in Flute at New York University, where I teach undergraduate NYU students private lessons. I am also an instructor on the website TakeLessons, where I teach online lessons to students as young as 7 years old. I like to find out what interests a student and how I can make my teaching helpful to each individual. I believe all students learn in completely different ways, and I am committed to finding out how I can help in the best way possible for each student.
METHODS USED
For beginning students, I typically like to work out of the Rubanks Elementary Flute Method Books. I also like to find repertoire which will interest each student, with solo repertoire and duets. As students progress, I like to work out of the Trevor Wye books as well as Taffanel et Gaubert Daily Exercises. I always go out of my way to find exactly what the student is interested in, whether it will be doing a certain technical study or etude in order to fulfill this. No matter what the ability level or age of the student is, I hope to find whatever is the most engaging for the student.
LESSON STYLE
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! So I hope to help every student develop at their own pace. I encourage this by realistically setting specific goals for each student at each lesson, making sure I am as clear as possible to help encourage this in any way. I also make myself very available for answering any questions any student might have, as well as working outside of the lesson to try and find the best way I can help each student. I have found from my past lessons with music teachers that acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, which will help a student feel more eager to learn. By helping inspire a student, I can successfully change my instruction to their wants and needs. I will try my best to help any student reach any goal they might have, because as corny as it may sound, I believe everyone can reach any goal they really set their mind to.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
