I'm a devoted musician who loves to teach, taking pride in all of the personal relationships I've garnished from my fruitful career! It all began when I started playing drums at a young age in my father's music store here in Virginia. Since then, I've traveled the country gigging, touring, and recording with bands such as, "Blue Meridian", and "Vishuda". The Viper Room, SXSW, and the Norva are a few venues that I've had the pleasure to play. I'm currently wrting a percussion book for kids. After graduating high school, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona and started teaching percussion at my father's music store. Since then, I've travelled the country to tour, record, and teach in and around southern California as well as Austin, Louisville, and many other cities and states. I am a devoted musician who loves to teach and learn while taking pride in all of the personal relationships that I've garnished from my music career.
I earned valuable skills while touring and teaching and found a niche while working with kids of which helped create my specialized children's teaching curriculum. Whether it's teaching children or adults, beginning classes start with basic snare rudimentary concepts with Stick Control and a Rudiment Dictionary. We then begin to work the moeller stroke on the kit. Intermiediate and advanced classes focus more on pocket, technique, kit maintenance and tuning, originial concepts, and mic placement.
I love to see my students succeed in life! Setting realistic goals is key as some students want to learn for a new hobby, some have a career, and some just love the art of drumming! For me, drumming is all of the above mentioned as well as a form of meditation therapy. My student's always leave smiling, having learned a new skill feel good about themselves and their life. I strike to challenge my students to achieve greatness by encouraging them to play with other musicians, gig, and record in order to continue their adventure of percussion.
