I have been passionate instructor and have been playing multi instruments for 15+ years. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and work as an ABA Therapist for autistic children. I have been in multiple bands and recorded a lot of songs. I have toured Michigan and the outer areas. I have had the opportunity to play at the Majestic Theater in Detroit, as well as St. Andrew's. Those were some of the most nerve wracking shows. I love to teach and I love watching people learn things that they never thought they could do.
I sometimes fill in teaching in a theater class for vocals and guitar. My teaching experience goes back to my days trying to show my friends and family how to play a chord. I love composing my original material and I am always looking to teach new students! I have worked with children for almost ten years, but any age group is fine! I have some teaching experience, but mainly through Psychology. However, I have taught friends and family how to play and as well as some children in the theater. I love watching someone discover a new passion.
Every stage is different. With beginners, you want them to learn the notes first, then the chords, the harder chords..etc. With intermediate players, you can begin teaching them songs and giving them songs to work on. Advanced players is all about finding the right tone and the right sounds, most likely helping by providing guitar work with them. It all depends on the student! But I know that for children, you start with the basics and work your way up! Every person is different but I know that I will send home a chord or a riff for them to work on. I also own a microphone if we would want to record your sounds and play them back to hear how they sound over speaker.
I love seeing my students gain passion and find success when they learn a riff or a chord, because I know how I felt when I did it. It inspires you to learn more. I like to use the method of telling them something they did fantastic, something they could work on and end on something they really did awesome on. I want to know what inspires the student and what they want to play. If you can master one style, it is way easier to master more. That is how I started. Nobody should ever get mad at how fast they are learning. Everyone learns at their own pace and it makes me sad to see so many people quit because they don't get it right the first time.
