I've been an instructor for piano, guitar, and drums for several years now. I fell into teaching by accident based on people passing my name around to others, but to my surprise I have enjoyed it all along the way. Teaching all different skill levels, songs, styles, and genres has been fun for both my students and myself. I'm a touring musician, recording artist, and music producer, so teaching on the side has been a perfect addition to my free time.
I began teaching 5 years ago and have been consistently teaching upwards of 40 students a week. Making it fun to learn, practice, and keep a consistent schedule is important if anyone wants to truely make real strides in their progress and playing ability.
I incorporate a students favorites songs (pop, rock, country, etc.) into a students lesson so that they really want to learn and then infuse music theory so that it isn't boring as I'm sure many of us had with certain piano teachers or others in past experiences.
Incorporating all of the above elements and making sure to progress at each students particular pace of development is key.
