I like to start where the student is. For my youngest students, we begin with the basics of counting and the music alphabet. For older students and adults, I assess prior knowledge and go from there. i like to have the students help me create up to three goals for the semester or year so that we can have something specific to aim for and measure. I'm very big on motivation. I tell my students from day one how great there doing and give them something to work towards. For example if I have a guitar student that really wants to be a lead guitarist I will play the solo of one of there favorite songs and teach them a small part of it or all of it if they are at an advanced level. I love alot of international music styles as well as American styles (soft rock, rock, hard rock, progressive metal, hip hop reggae, etc.). My music degree is from Auburn University Montgomery and I have done live performances within a band, ensemble, and on my own.
