Most of my lesson plans are customized for each student, depending the style they are interested in, and the level that they are already playing. Generally speaking for beginners, I begin with teaching about the instrument (string names, frets, tuning, etc.). Then we move on to chords, starting with the easiest ones to play. I am thankful to have had talented musical mentors (band members, teachers, songwriters, studio musicians, professional musicians) to learn from and grow with over the years. Because I have found that most "creatives" are fairly emotionally driven, I believe it is of the utmost importance to retain a sense of encouragement at every milestone no matter how small.
