In 1993 I graduated from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma with a Bachelor's in Music Education with emphasis in music therapy. We would do short listening exercises to work on our inner ear, a structure as complex and parallel to that of the conscious, if you cannot listen to it in your mind/inner ear you're very unlikely to play it. I have been labeled a passionate, patient, and fun instructor. I focus on goal driven lessons entailing theory, ear training, repertoire, technique, and history. I studied ethnomusicology and Japanese music in graduate school, so my teaching style is inclusive and diverse. I have been performing in orchestra since the age of 15 and have performed in ensembles such as band, world music, Latin music, jazz, electronic music, and more.
