I model my teaching style after the best trumpet teachers I have had throughout the years. For younger students I like to take short breaks in the lesson and play music of various genres from my tablet to get them interested in trumpet and enjoy the sound of how it fits in with different genres of music. Whatever instrument private studies we are working on, a balanced approach of performance, literature, theory and technique is studied. Once the groundwork is established, we even work through composition on their chosen instrument. Students work at their own pace. I have some students who move quite swiftly through their levels and that is great. Others may need more time and that is fine. I do find that students who utilize regular and purposeful home practice will tend to get through levels a fair amount quicker. Read More

Last year, one of my 2nd Grade Chicago Public School Band students performed the National Anthem for memory on the Alto Saxophone in front of 1000's of people at a race. One of my 1st Grade Violin Students impressed the president of Columbia College of Music so much that my students were offered life-time scholarships to attend Blues Kid's Camp, held annually at Columbia College in Chicago. I'm a life-long musician and am extremely interested in passing my knowledge on to others. Currently I am a band director in the Pueblo, Colorado area but have lived all over the United States and played trumpet extensively for over 2 decades. I was trained as a trumpet player at DePaul University, UAB, and most recently at the University of Alabama, and also have experience composing and arranging music.
