I have been teaching private lessons for around 3 years, with experience teaching in all aspects of percussion, including drumset, marching percussion and concert percussion. I teach both virtually and in person either at my home studio in Cedar Rapids or in Ames when I'm at college. I believe that a combination of all the various styles of percussion is the best way to get a full grasp of drumming, however if you have specific interests I will do my best to focus on those when possible in the lessons. As I mentioned above, one of my favorite parts about teaching is learning from my students. I encourage my students to take chances, perform often, and to not be afraid of making mistakes. All experiences help you learn, no matter what level you are. I encourage students to make the music personal to them and relate to it in a way that suits their personality.
