I am a passionate teacher who strives to help beginner and intermediate flutists improve their playing while also encouraging a love for music and the flute and/or piccolo. In 2015, I graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in journalism and a minor in Spanish. During my time at Illinois, I played piccolo in the Marching Illini and flute in the concert bands. I use humor and my own experiences to first establish a caring environment in which the student can be comfortable. Once that connection is established, I like to find out the students interests and make sure a personal goal is set that we can achieve together. There has to be something exciting the student can achieve in order to develop self-motivation. I am a passionate music educator with over 10 years as an instructor and performer. As an instructor, I am licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education to teach K-12 Instrumental, Vocal, and General Music. I teach full-time as a High School Band Director in addition to running a private studio. I am able to teach piano and most band instruments [woodwinds and brass]. Tommy has been teaching since 2017. He has taught in both one-on-one and group lessons for students of all ages. Tommy has taught flute, clarinet, saxophone, and theory lessons to both beginning students and at the collegiate level. Tommy also performs with many different ensembles across a wide variety of genres. Tommy is 3rd/Bass Clarinetist for the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, runs the Delicious Bass Bass Clarinet Choir, runs the Elite Four Jazz Band, and is a reoccurring performer with the Oswego Chamber Musicians.
