I cater each lesson to each individual student and their needs/desires, therefore no lesson or student has the same lesson plan. I can teach for different instruments and various styles, so those as well as the student's personality/skill level all factor in to how I will teach them. However, 3 things that I pretty much universally teach to all students of all styles are 1) scales, the fundamental building blocks of all music; 2) music theory, every style has it's own version of music theory and it is immensely helpful in understanding how to play it; and 3) learning songs that interests the student, because nobody is going to want to stick with music if they are forced to play songs that someone else wants them to learn. I always approach teaching music in a relaxed and fun way. With the right teacher, learning music greatly rewarding and enjoyable. My teaching style is always based around my students experience level, their goals, and learning style. I always start with activities that are within the student's abilities, and carefully progress through more challenging pieces and exercises. This way, the student will always have a challenge that is achievable, not too difficult that makes them want to quit, and not to easy that makes them bored. Read More

For those who are just starting on an instrument, I usually focus on basic technique. Bass and guitar are both physical instruments in their own way, and getting acclimated to the feel of it is key to having success on it. For bass, I typically teach out of the Suzuki book series, while as for guitar, I use the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, however, I am happy to teach whatever method a student or their parents feel strongly about. My passion for drumming began as a teenager, and I was fortunate enough to have a very supportive family who encouraged me to do what I loved. I will always be grateful for that. Given the right kind of support and teaching, I firmly believe that anyone with the drive to learn can have a very rewarding and fun experience with the drums. Read More
