When working with new flute students, my focus is on a solid sound, technique, hand/body position, and learning to read and play music. I believe in a student learning to hear music and think for themselves. Through ear training, creativity, and learning "how" music works, the goal is to get each student to not need a teacher to learn their instrument, but want a teacher so they may become their best version of it. I focus on this as a primary value in my studio. In lessons, we'll use formulas and concepts to understand "why" things sound good, and "how" we actually get better. Read More

My teaching style may vary depending upon the student. I have several books and other teaching material available for my students. These include: Berkley Music Theory I and II, several Hal Leonard, and Fischer books and more! Lesson material will mostly depend upon the student's goals and current skill-set. EVERY lesson will consist of: assessing and tracking the student's skill-set, solidifying the student's goals along with my goals for the student, and creating a plan of action to follow in order to reach these goals. No matter how old is the student or how many experiences that they have, one thing I am emphasizing in the lesson is enhancing their interest and motivation in playing the piano. It is because I can offer them the method of practice, musical knowledge, but ultimately it is their decision to practice or devote in music or not. I hope I can do my best to teach piano by giving them fun exercises, interesting listening examples or demonstrations, and different musical knowledge, in order to let them fall in love with music.
