If a student has an half hour lesson, I encourage them to practice daily a half hour five days per week. If a student has an hour lesson, then I expect practicing an hour daily five days per week. I also like to involve parentsespecially of younger students to be involved with and in their childs practice. My goal is to encourage students through praise. In 2006, I began my orchestral career at the age of 18 with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. I will always remember the feelings of inspiration, anxiousness, and joy when he walked into the concert hall the first time. Since then, I have enjoyed performing in many orchestras including the Kinnor Philharmonic, the Southeast Kansas Symphony, the Springfield-Drury Civic Orchestra, and the Topeka Symphony. I have been teaching lessons since High School. Back then, I mostly taught beginner students on the Piano. Since College, I have expanded my teaching repertoir to include Piano, Organ, Violin, and Viola. For the past 7 years, I have been teaching and instructing my students on the best practices as blossoming musicians. Nothing can make you a better musician than practice and consistency. For beginners I use a method book for learning how to read music and learn music theory. Once the basics are attained I introduce scales and etudes to build on the technical aspects of playing the instrument. Solo books are also added to the repertoire for the student so that they can use everything they have learned thus far and express that in a piece of music.
