Alysha S is a classically trained vocalist who performs and teaches all styles of singing, specializing in classical, jazz, folk, pop, soul, and world music. She is also a hand percussionist and percussion teacher. In addition to these instruments, she plays guitar, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, and she makes electronic music with Ableton Live. Alysha has studied and performed music from the Balkans and Mideast since 2006, specializing in percussion and regional vocal techniques from Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Albania, and Macedonia. I started working with youth as a counselor when I was 15 years old, which soon transitioned to helping students in my high school band integrate concepts and theory that seem at first like a foreign language. During college, as a student majoring in Chinese, I continued to teach guitar lessons during my stays in China.
