I'm a musicologist,articles on rock roll published in Crawdaddy Magazine, a monograph on the natural history of R B completed and a book on the best pop tunes of the last century in the works. I approach music from four perspectives in order to create an integrated foundation that caters to the learning methods of my students. My method is very simple: First and foremost I ask what kind of music my students like to listen to. Using this as a format I gradually add theoretical concepts to the extent the student is able to broaden his or her understanding of what they like. Third, I incorporate short bursts of technical exercices, utilizing a knowledge of the devolopment of muscle memory and gauging my student's individual capacity to absorb new information. Read More

 I have also taught general music from kindergarten up through 5th grade, and assisted bands at the university level.  My performance experience has taken me to many wonderful places--College bowl games and the NCAA Tournaments to international hotspots such as Bogota, Columbia and even as far away as China.  I have also been fortunate enough to perform with musical icons such as Doc Severinson, Mariachi Cobre, Byron Stripling, John Fedchock, Bobby Shew, Five by Design, Club Swing, the Harry James Orchestra, Andre Williams, and notable groups such as the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, Phil Campo and the "Loose Change" Jazz band, the Salt Lake Alternative Jazz Orchestra, and many others. My teaching style is completely client centered. I have a great passion for music, and I encourage my students to develop one as well! Each person will learn at their own pace, and I believe there is no right or wrong way of learning. I try to set realistic goals for my students, while always encouraging their creativity and uniqueness.
