I began teaching private guitar lessons while I was attending Ohio State University. I was a teaching assistant while in graduate school. During my school days I thought of teaching music simply as a way to earn some money. I have already acquired some amount of skill at scales, arps, technique, etc, but have never had the opportunity to put it all together in other stylistic situations, especially jazz, and the upcoming Fusion, styles. I enjoy collaborating with my students to achieve their musical goals in a positive way. I encourage my students to find their own voice and adapt lessons to meet their own needs. With a personalized music learning program, I can create attainable steps towards achievement that are developmentally appropriate for each student. In addition, I want to make learning fun so each lesson is specialized to students’ interests. My hope is to inspire my students to be independent musicians, to play their instruments with joy, and to be open to the ongoing development of their own creativity. Read More
