I do not have a specific teaching style. Being a teacher is a learning experience for the teacher just as much as it is for the student. Every student learns a different way and can require a unique way of teaching. No one student will get the same teaching method. Overall, I do approach each lesson with patients, the wanting for the student to succeed and making the lesson fun but also productive. Read More

I am an Ohio-based trumpeter with a passion for music education, the contemporary music scene, and brass chamber ensembles. I have experience in performing and offering master classes for universities in Ireland and Italy as well as colleges and high schools all over the Midwestern and Southern United States. Armed with my trumpet, rich roots in brass chamber music traditions, and an eagerness to share the gift of music, I am prepared to enlighten and inspire musicians and audiences young and old. I've been teaching guitar for the past 12 years, and more recently bass, ukulele, piano/keys, voice, percussion and studio recording as well. Being a teacher involves much more than just following curriculum out of a book. Each student has their unique way of absorbing information, and we should always remain sensitive to that. Read More

My preferred methodology uses the Alfred series books, as well as the Faber Piano Adventure series as supplemental material. I use a combination of note names and intervals to teach reading skills. Once we have the basics down, I like the student to tell me what he/she would enjoy playing, and I'll do my best to incorporate that, or something similar to that. Also, I prefer that the student have access to a real piano rather than a keyboard. Read More

I have taught lessons on-and-off throughout my college career. This began about five years ago when a few of my friends communicated interest in learning various instruments. What started as casual pointers then developed into structured half-hour lessons each week. As a music therapist, I also have experience teaching adaptive lessons for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Students are encouraged to select repertoire of their choice in order to make the learning process more personal and enjoyable. Read More
