I began teaching private lessons to young children when I was 15 under the direction of my parents, who are both violinists and public school teachers. In college, I began teaching both children and adults full time, and since graduating I have continued teaching as my full-time job. For beginning students, I start with Gerald E. Anderson and Robert S. Frost's All for Strings. Once the students made progression in basic fundamentals, I use the Suzuki Methods Books and Solo for Young Violinists by Barbara Barber. Along with that, I introduce the students to the chamber music so that the students learn to play with others. My students of all levels have been made aware of what is amazing in their playing and, in turn, felt encouraged to bring the other aspects of their musicianship to the same level. My very first young student confided in me that he originally wanted to quit the violin, but my instruction convinced him to keep pursuing music.
