I enjoy teaching private lessons and helping students discover their niche and their full potential. I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree (magna cum laude). I've performed as lead/solo trumpet with the Blue Lake International Jazz Orchestra on their month-long tour of Europe in 2010. I have performed with the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra and many smaller ensembles. I'm currently pursuing my Master of Music in trumpet performance at Temple University and am studying with David Bilger, principal trumpet of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Read More

From 2017 until 2021, I was the Brass Specialist at the British International School of Kuala Lumpur, where I taught group brass lessons, private lessons, directed ensembles, and accompanied students on international music festival tours. The last two years of my teaching there were plagued by pandemic, so I gained a multitude of experience with online teaching as we were in and out of school at various points. Prior to my position at BSKL, I was the Trombone Teaching Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado, and I taught after school low brass lessons at the University School in Shaker Heights during my undergraduate. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, especially for brass instruments. I also tend to mix in some fun songs that are more well known using my own arrangements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My style is focused but fun! I ask my students to practice every day. While this may sound daunting, it's really the only way to make progress in music. My students know that I have many different ways to teach something, and I never give up! When a student struggles with a concept or technique, I love to dive into the nitty gritty of the situation until we've found a solution. Read More

For my beginning students I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Then we move to the "Arban" book and eventually start working on solo rep. Another thing I like to implement is the breathing gym, which not only helps as a musician but can also assure you having clear lungs! I usually try to do fun things for example if my student is young I ask them whats their favorite pop song and I usually arrange it or find an arrangement and spend a lesson doing that, or even teaching them to learn it by ear.
