I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2011, I graduated fromSouthern University and AM Collegewith a Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance/Music Education. Having both degrees has enhanced my teaching studio for I can give the best of both cases to my students either going for education or performance. Over my years of teaching, I have developed my own method for beginning students that caters to the individual student's needs and learning styles. Once the student has grasped the basic fundamentals, I start to introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their level, as well as focusing on learning proper technique. I also make it a point to observe how they learn and what is successful for them along with what doesn't work so well. I use educational tools such as videos and games to also teach, especially for the younger ones. This makes them enjoy the lesson more I've found. I started assisting the music teacher at Harmony School of Innovation for one year 2017-2018 as a part of a scholarship program that I was in. During my time here I helped in classrooms ranging from K-12th grade, I learned various classroom teaching methods for different age groups. Beginning of 2018, to the present, I also started working as a private teacher and orchestra teacher in a local program called String Project, based at UTEP. where music students from the university teach children from K-5th. I began teaching in 2009, with private students. The following year, I began working with non-profit organization, for two years, that brought music to at-risk and underprivileged children. After working with them, I began working with the Baton Rouge Arts Council, bringing music and music appreciation to elementary school class rooms for children and schools that did not have a music teacher, on staff.
