I always want to put the needs of the student first. I want to teach according to what they need or want and make sure they understand what they are doing and why they are doing it. I like to play along with the students because I want them to hear what more experienced players sound like too. I want my students to feel comfortable during lessons. After all, playing in front of someone can be scary! I strive to be warm and inviting while also providing direction and education. I put heave emphasis on the basics like scales (major and minor), circle of fifths, thirds and fifths, and sight reading. My teaching experience started in college 27 years ago and I have maintained a consistent student roster since 2004. Encouraging a regular practice schedule is a key point especially for younger students in progressing and gaining a passion for the instrument. I've discovered offering a balance of classical, and modern music are the best combo for helping students maintain motivation to practice and learn. I enjoyed being part of many musical ensembles (including the Supertonic Orchestra in Dublin and Anashim in Poland) and went on to found the klezmer music ensemble ‘Klezmerado’. I performed playing the clarinet with this group at over 100 concerts all throughout Poland. Additionally, I have taken part in several musical projects across Europe aimed at bringing professional music to children. Not only do I have extensive experience playing as part of orchestras and ensembles, but I also pursued music pedagogy, and during my many years of teaching instrumental music, I was able to further develop my own skill as a performance musician.
