I began teaching lessons at age 14 to young neighborhood beginners. As I progressed through the years, I expanded my range of student ability from beginner to upper intermediate, and from ages 6 to... well, older than me and I'm now 60! I have taught hundreds of students and enjoyed every one of them. I find that the more effort, especially in consistent and efficient practice (to be explained and demonstrated by me), that my students put in, the more pleasure and satisfaction they get out of it! We all go at our own pace, and we should not compare our musical progress to others' musical progress. I will help my students make their own unique musical goals and gradually achieve them through a kind and loving teaching approach. I will adapt to each of my student's learning preferences, whether that is visual, aural, or written. I will give positive feedback, and step-by-step ways in which improvement can happen. Read More

Much of my approach to teaching is determined by the individual student. I want my students to be the best musicians they can be, and that does require a certain amount of pressure. My goal is to let students find their own potential and their own motivation to learn. Read More

I started teaching over ten years ago. I have taught several amazing violin and piano students ages 4-16 over the years. In my experience, I've found that the Suzuki Violin method books work very well for private lessons but can teach other methods. I have a degree in violin performance and play the piano as well. I've also taught 4th-12th grade orchestra in Arizona and Utah. Please contact me to have a trial lesson for yourself or your child. Read More

I use the Suzuki Method throughout my teaching process. I think it is a great bases for teaching the techniques necessary to master the violin/viola. I also use various scale books (according to level) to teach note reading, sight reading, and basic music theory. Each student in my studio is required to work on a technique (scales, etc.) and one to two solo pieces. Along with this, majority of my students perform with orchestras in schools or the community.
