For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Kid's Keyboard Course Book #1. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. All of my students receive custom lessons, written by myself, mixed in with standard lesson books. Since I have always believed that "one size does not necessarily fit all" I have found this to be a better approach to rapidly putting my students at the next level. Being able to read charts in marching percussion and drumset, in particular, will put you in a position of great demand when it comes to begin your professional career.
