I have been teaching since I was in high school, maintaining a private studio and teaching lessons and sectionals in Cleveland schools. Having grown up in a large family, I love working with children and relate well to all ages. I'm goal-oriented and methodical, but I'm also passionate about what I do and I love nothing more than to impart that passion. I currently teach extensively throughout northern Virginia and hold the position of music teacher at the Ambleside School in Herndon. Read More

I found love when I learned to make music. I have been playing saxophone since elementary school and even focused my college studies around it, graduating with honors from Florida AM University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Jazz Studies and Commercial Music. I've had a wide range of experiences through music from Superbowl appearances to touring China as a musical ambassador for the 2008 Olympic games. I've performed with a number of well known jazz and classically trained musicians including the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Read More

I have been teaching flute lessons for 11 years. I have taught students from third through twelfth grade, adults, and students with special needs. I focus mainly on encouraging the student to find what interests them most about music and to find out how to apply music to their own lives. In lessons, I work to increase the student's understanding of music so that they will want to discover new things on their own. Read More

I create a customized curriculum based on the experience and age of each student. There are specific method books that I use, but my choices completely depend on the individual student and instrument that I am selecting material for. I like to create a well balanced curriculum of fun, technique and challenge in each lesson. Read More

Students can expect to work from a variety of method books to study instrumental techniques, and music theory. For beginning students I prefer Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, but also work with any method book a student uses in their band class. Students will also work from the Peters/Yoder Master Theory Series. We will also incorporate a students "favorite" music to help develop listening skills and gain a level of comfort and familiarity with improvisation from the very beginning of their lessons with me.
