I can come up with suggestions as much as you'd like, but my favorite lessons are the ones where a student has his or her own goal, and I'm able to help them achieve this goal in some way. The most important thing to do as a teacher is find the right balance between fun and learning. When I teach, I make sure that students are enjoying their time in the lessons, because music is supposed to be fun, not a chore. At the same time, we have to work hard on our weaknesses and turn them into strengths, and the most enjoyment comes from working hard on something and seeing the rewards of that hard work. Read More

I come from a family of musicians- I was encouraged to play piano as soon as I could sit up. I had formal private piano lessons for 12 years, played in the school orchestra and picked up guitar and drums in local bands. I continued to study music at Mizzou while I performed in restaurants, bars, wineries, and private parties. After graduating I got into social work with foster care and senior centers during the day while i taught private lessons and played in bands at night. Read More

I began my career as a music teacher when I was in high-school, where I had the opportunity to teach through a group co-op. I continued to develop my skills as a passionate teacher in undergrad, and began teaching through the Community Music Program at the University of Missouri.
