The most important philosophical concept about private lessons is this: proceed in a way that will maximize your potential to achieve an excellent goal that you can call your own. Although I am not limited to one method book or another, I typically use Arban's for trumpet lessons - with other books and repertoire along with it. My background is Suzuki violin, followed by music literacy and transposition. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce some solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Read More

I also love allowing students to play music based on holidays they celebrate: it is always fun for a small family/friends concert! Read More

I work with the needs and goals of the individual student, and incorporates a wide variety of teaching styles into my lessons. For my younger piano students, I use the Bastien piano series, and I like to use the Alfred Adult Beginner series for my beginning students that are late middle school and older. Read More
