For beginners, I usually work with the beginning band books that are established by the public schools they attend. If they arent in band yet, then I would start them on the Rubank Elementary Methods book for Bb clarinet. The Rubank methods are my go to for all levels, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. For intermediate students, I also use the Melodious and Progressive Students and for advanced students, I work out of the Rose 32 etudes and 40 studies. Read More

Like I mentioned above, I believe in having fun. You should be having as much fun as you are working hard. I have had more fun in band than almost anything else in my life. I like to teach by sound and feel before notation. Read More

When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music.
